Oracle configure archivelog

configure archivelog:

Connect to the database:

[oracle@collabn1 config]$ sqlplus / as sysdba

SQL> select name,open_mode from v$database;

Set the recovery area if you haven’t already done:

SQL> alter system set db_recovery_file_dest='+DATA2';

System altered.

SQL> alter system set db_recovery_file_dest_size=12g;

System altered.

SQL> show parameter db_recovery_file_dest_size

Archivelog is currently disabled:

SQL> archive log list;

To enable the archivelog DB must be in mount state:

SQL> shut immediate;

Database closed.

Database dismounted.

ORACLE instance shut down.

SQL> startup mount;

ORACLE instance started.

Total System Global Area  430075904 bytes

Fixed Size           2214056 bytes

Variable Size         385877848 bytes

Database Buffers       37748736 bytes

Redo Buffers           4235264 bytes

Database mounted.

Enable Archivelog

SQL> alter database archivelog;

Database altered.

Verify the archivelog setting:

SQL> archive log list;

Database log mode           Archive Mode

Automatic archival           Enabled

Archive destination           USE_DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST

Oldest online log sequence     5

Next log sequence to archive   7

Current log sequence           7

Open the database:

SQL> alter database open;

Database altered.
